This was the first public library building in the city, opening in 1912. It was designed in the English renaissance style and became a community centre in the Strathcona area. Until its redesign the basement was the children's library. Grasping the new books they've just borrowed, children huddle around their teacher before making their trek in the snow back to school for some afternoon reading.
